Position: Head of School
Location: Mary Rose Academy – Solent Academies Trust

Current responsibilities:

  • Leading Specialist Provision for students currently unable to access the main classroom environment
  • Staff coaching in the area of Autism and Complex Needs across the school

  • Member of the Leadership Team

  • Strategic planning for changing, more complex, student demographic

  • Delivery of Training and CPD in relevant areas (Autism & associated needs; practical strategies & techniques)

  • Intervention development, facilitator training and delivery

  • One of the Academy’s Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads

Experience in leading improvements in learning and teaching:

  • Assistant Head Teacher for Inclusion & SENCO responsibilities including: application for / review of Education Health & Care Plans; funding requests; provision mapping, challenging the gap, reporting to governors, data analysis etc.
  • Curriculum and intervention development for secondary aged students working between P3.ii-P8; National Curriculum; GCSE, ASDAN, BTEC, Entry Level Courses.; reporting; resourcing; blended curriculums; alternatively resourced provisions, inclusion bases.

    Behaviour and Wellbeing (for SEN/D) provision leadership, development, training and implementation.

    Autism Education Trust (DfE) trainer & bespoke CPD training development and facilitation.  Training spans Entry Level Autism Awareness through to Leadership and Management training for the development of Autism friendly provision in both mainstream and special school environments.

    Transition Planning & Management – within school; primary to secondary; secondary to post-16; post-16 to post-19.
