SLE

SLEs are outstanding middle and senior leaders (including Heads of School, Deputy Headteachers, Assistant Headteachers, Subject Leaders or School Business Managers) with at least four years experience.

The role of an SLE is focused on:

  • Improving outcomes for children
  • Leaders supporting leaders
  • Drawing on specialist knowledge and areas of expertise
  • Supporting the delivery of CPD to develop staff skills, knowledge and expertise
  • Being flexible to meet the needs of supported schools
  • Sustainability – helping schools improve their own leadership capacity

SLEs have the skills to support individuals or teams in similar positions in other schools. They understand what outstanding leadership practice in their area of expertise looks like and are skilled in helping other leaders to achieve it in their own context.
