Autism Awareness - Understanding & Creating Social Scenarios

Target role: Teaching Staff and Parents

22 May 2018 9.30 - 15.00

The course will teach participants to write a very simple, factual story around a particular issue. The story will answer those what, why, when, who, how questions that many people with social communication difficulties find hard to answer. Social scenarios can be used in all sorts of contexts – home and educational settings and have proved to be very successful.

There are specific ways in which a story must be written if it is to be successful In the morning session we will look at the theory behind this intervention and the rules for writing a successful social scenario. Participants will be given titles or to come with an issue/idea for which they can then write a social story in the afternoon session.

A mixture of theory, practical and fun! This course offers a positive and clear intervention to help those with social communication difficulties a clearer understanding of the world around them.
