As reading is a focus for many schools across Portsmouth this Academic Year, we are pleased to announce that Heather Rushton will be delivering training for the Portsmouth Teaching School Alliance.  Her expertise include:

The focus of this session will be to develop your teaching practice using non-fiction and poetry texts. Heather will take you through a teaching journey using one text, intertwining skills that need to be explicitly taught; showing you how to develop the children's reading for sense and fluency.  She will also include techniques for skimming and scanning, enabling children to retrieve facts from information text.

She will also share with you a range of non-fiction and poetry text.

Please note that all course bookings carry a non-attendance fee of £50 (excluding subject network meetings).  All apologies should be received at least 2 weeks prior to the session, unless in extenuating circumstances, in order to avoid the charge.
